I purchased some dishes at a yard sale, and I’m trying to identify the pattern. I went to chinareplacements.com but the site isn’t working for me. Can anyone please give me an idea? Thank you!
The pattern is different, so Malmaison is not the pattern. There are a ton of different ones on worthpoint.
Malmaison can refer to carnations. A quick bit of digging revealed Malmaison was a range of different designs by Jaeger. Most of their production doesn't seem to be named, so it likely was just referred to as a pattern number (ie Malmaison 1, 2, 3 etc). Using pattern numbers instead of names was common in the 19th and early 20th century. If there is a painted number on some of the pieces, that may be the pattern number. If there aren't any numbers and the Jaeger catalogues are lost to time it may never be possible to find the original designation.
