    Hello all,

I have what appears to be a typical request/the usual story. We have had this table in our family for generations. No identifying makers marks. The matching chairs have all fallen apart and are gone.

I was thinking depression era since it looks like what I saw labeled William and Mary but not quite; it has bun feet, x-stretcher?, removable leaf, carved sides, and some green accent paint and stencils (art deco?).

It would be great to see if anyone has ideas as to where/when is it from.

Thank you for taking a look. My family and I will be thrilled to learn more about it. I made sure my mom saved the table for me until I bought a house, and now here I am finally in a new home with this old family table as my only piece of furniture. It makes me happy to keep it.

Id guess 1930s.Usually you see that stencil and color scheme on kitchen tables,I cant remember ever seeing this on wood. Id call the style "faux Tudor"

Hate to weigh in when there are furniture experts here but... I'd think 1930s too. Eau de nil was a popular color then and the egg-and-dart motif has been given an Art Deco interpretation.

Super cool! Thanks for sharing about the egg-and-dart. I love learning the names for each element.

Actually, that is not an egg & dart molding, i see no egg (round, oval shape) or dart (arrow shape)

I will, of course, concede to your greater knowledge on the subject but... is it a stretch to say that this is an adaption of the egg-and-dart motif to an Art Deco aesthetic?

LOL, well, i guess one could stretch it into art deco egg & dart! Wait for @verybrad, this era of furniture is more his thing than mine. My knowledge base is 17-18th centuries.:)

Depression era is spot-on. Wood is oak. I am not sure this is American but could be. If family has no connection across the pond, it probably is. The molding motif could be inspired by egg and dart but, as James points out, there is no egg or dart. As such, you probably need to call it something else.

Another thing, i can't recall ever seeing a painted stencil on top or those green accents on this era of furniture, it's neat, i like it but wonder if it is original or applied later.
