Just been trawling through world silvermarks and I think it is Gondomar 1886-1913

Interesting. I have never heard of Gondomar. Is it a person, a place?

    Aaaagh!

Tablet wont let me insert text!

So briefly back on desktop pc.

It is a Portuguese municipality, apparently known for its jewellery

I'd never heard of it either.

Purity 833/1000 with tolerance of 005/1000.

All this with caveat I may have got it wrong!

The tiny red blob is Gondomar:

For anyone who doesn't know where Portugal is, it is in the far southwest of Europe, that blue stuff is the Atlantic Ocean, the yellowish stuff is Spain.

One of my best holidays was on a small boat up the Douro.

The cabin had to be dismantled when going through the massive locks.

We went when it wasnt very commercialised, still recall watching dancers bussed in from Salamanca, as were the villagers through the boat windows, all to the toad chorus in the headwaters.

    Wonderful, Rhiwfield.
I love Portugal, but haven't been further north than Coimbra. I felt at home because the mentality of the Portuguese is a bit like a southern European version of the Dutch. Or maybe we are the Portuguese of the north.
Anyway, both are small countries with a great maritime history, and the people are pretty down to earth.

    We enjoyed it tremendously.

At the limit of navigation the boat moored against the jetty and we went for a drink in a tiny village bar. Nice people too.

Later, when the dancers appeared, I think half the bar's occupants were lying on the jetty to peer through the windows. The dancers were from a flamenco school. It was enjoyable when the students were dancing but when the two teachers danced the atmosphere changed.

If you watched Strictly Ballroom, recall how the girl's parents danced the Pasa Doble. Very passionate

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

A vacation in Portugal sounds wonderful. It hasn't been on my "wish list" but should be in the future. :)

And I like the purse, too.

They're lovely people, the Portuguese. And a fascinating country; well worth the visit.
