Featured Daddy bear, mummy bear and baby bear

    Fascinating little dish, thickly potted.

    I'm thinking maybe German c 1900? Ears and one foot seem to have suffered kiln overfiring? It doesn't seem to be damage although there is a bit of damage to back.

    Daddy bear is smoking an oversize pipe while Mummy bear is holding (possibly feeding) baby

    Has anyone seen anything similar or can shed light on this?

    Bears or foxes? The rounded ears are bear ears, but the faces?

    I still think bears, especially daddy, shape rather like the old soft toys where the muzzle is pronounced

    I think you're probably correct - Germany circa 1900 maybe a little earlier. You don't give any reference to size so I'm assuming they're very cute novelty pieces.

    Yes, pin dish, small ashtray size.

    It is the bears that fascinate me!

    The Germans also seem to have a fascination with bears - and pigs. I have a couple of the pink pig novelties.
