I picked this up at my local thrift shop today. It's numbered on the back. Measures 9 3/4. It appears maybe Iran? If anyone might know what this is that would be great thanks!
It is very nice, but neither the shape or motifs, nor the numerals look Iranian to me. If Iranian made, it was European inspired, with Western numerals. Where you thinking the faces could represent an ancient Iranian horned deity? They could be fauns or something similar.
I am always up in the middle of the night, even my sleep has a short attention span. If I'm expecting deliveries, I check their ETA during the night. The latest tracking info only becomes available after midnight here in NL. Sometimes I automatically end up on Antiquers.
Could be, although the fleur-de-lis symbol is pretty generic in western and southern Europe. It is even in one of my Dutch ancestral family crests, without any connection to France.
Thanks bercrystal, Any, and miscstuff. I'll measure the indentation when I get home. So you think it's French instead?
This is an european (most likely french) inkwell base! I found one on ebay that looks similar to this one! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/35089163...-53481-19255-0&campid=5338722076&toolid=10001
