Dove might still be a reading aid. Dove is common enough in Christianity.

It came with a crown sitting on a stand. It could be a Bible pointer or for a prayer book instead. I'm just a poor ignorant Baptist who knows more about Judaica than Catholic religious pieces.

Nice haul! Fun! The ginkgo ashtray is my fave. Needs a new purpose now that smoking is less common.

Got this cool General Electric Coffee Mug which must have been made for promotional/advertising purposes. Don't usually go for mugs but this one was an exception and also got a mate to it that I assume is dishwasher damaged/really faded (not pictured).

I'd have nabbed that GE mug too; I snag Westinghouse and Hamilton Standard stuff early and often, probably for similar reasons.

Keys, paper clips, etc. I have an ashtray I use for cuff links.

Had a rare opportunity to make a day of thrift store shopping...I really have missed that...Got incredibly blessed with this find at the 2nd store of the day, a wonderful 596 grams of sterling silver for the very acceptable price of $5.49:

@evelyb30 The flamingo is cool. What a great haul!. We rarely get sterling in charity shops in the UK other than occasionally some jewellery or maybe I just haven’t been lucky yet!.

Never pass by “silver plate” items without looking them over, you never know what you will find :)

I always check the silverplate just in case! The birdie is probably Christmas Tree Shops quality, but it's cute and it's flying off to my sister's house eventually. All of the silver I bought on Saturday was in with some junk silverplate. The cordial cups that got scrapped (weighted tat) were picked up by another shopper and put back down because the box was all mildewed. Who cared about the box??? I paid $3 for a Fenton vase and $1 for three Mexican souvenir sterling ashtrays. (also melted) Oops!

So good to be out of months of lockdown and scouting around the Charity Shops. Not all of my favourites are open yet but I was very happy to find a few bits, Exquisite marcasite brooch, glass beads, and couple of silver Blue John rings, tiny, could only get one on my little finger. £12 for everything.

I did once find a nice gold hallmarked ring in a chazza. 18 carat too, and it was twenty quid. LABELLED as gold.

    Them as goes thriftin'? Nay.

Still no charity shops, thrift stores or anything else of the kind open here in Germany.

Whenever I see gold in a Chazza it’s run of the mill stuff 9ct and hugely overpriced, usually 4 times over scrap.

Charity shops here only sell gold because they missed the mark or couldn't read it. If they don't it's usually grossly overpriced. I buy the mistakes!
