I was running around doing errands this morning and found this cabinet in an antique shop. I don't really think is an antique or has much value, but it intrigued me, as they had it labeled as a clock case. The lower portion is cloth however so it appears it may have had a speaker. I bought it to possibly use on another project, but before I mess with it I would kind of like to know what it is. If it can be identified I might try to find the rest of it online and possibly restore it vs. modifying it for a project. If anybody has any ideas let me know. Thanks! Sorry about the sideways photos, not sure why.

Old radio cabinet? Looking again, really does look more like it was for a clock. Maybe had chimes that were kept from getting too dirty by having the fabric covering. And welcome.

Some type of intercom for a church confessional? "Father, there's a sinner here...over."

I do think cathedral type radio, though most had the speaker at the top. .

The outline of the case is that of a mid to late 19th C American shelf clock, going by the size, shape and finials. The front and back, certainly not. Someone may have taken a case and changed the front and back for some purpose.
I don't think there would be any point in trying to re-clock it. If it is cheap enough, by all means use it for something.
If it had been a home made radio at some time there should be internal marks where the components, the speaker and radio chassis, were fixed to the case.

If you are using Windoze, I usually use Picture Manager to rotate them all in the correct orientation. For some reason that works, and you do not need to save, just advance to the next photo and the orientation selected is automatically saved.
