My daughter bought this for me yesterday and sent me the first two pics, today she brought it to me and I took the other pics. Her cell takes such better pics. Anyway,it feels like plastic but was wondering maybe bakelite? It seems weird to put plain ole plastic in open back settings. Does anyone know the maker, style, date of this piece? No marks. Very heavy I guess due to all the chains. The color is closer to the first two pics
Thanks for looking :) photo 3.JPG photo 1.JPG

Just to get the thread running, I'm gonna say those are not bakelite, the open backs save weight, and it looks brand new.

It also looks like something I'd expect a belly dancer to wear.

LOL, because of the lobsterclaw I thought maybe 80's? I know I read somewhere that bakelite is still being made. Of course this was just wishful thinking ;)

I compared the beads to my bakelite beads I have and they do look more plastic but more of a resin type? I guess I will stick to sterling and gold .:p

    Hi,
I always thought if pieces had prongs it was better quality than just glued in place. It does give me that Middle Eastern to India vibe.

Brand new. Whilst it looks Middle Eastern, that style was very fashionable here last summer - mostly made in Asia, nothing wrong with that. Not cheap, new, and I'd have bought it.

Definitely new - vintage Last Week as I generally call it. If you like the style go right ahead and wear it.

A local convenience store is selling brand new, very colorful brooches with prong-set rhinestones. There's lesson there somewhere.
