Hello World

The last time I was here, here was on ebay and we were all being harangued by a wretched scalawag or two.

I see friendly faces -- even if you don't remember me, I remember you... and how I've missed you.

Oh, and where I used to hang out -- a bit of everywhere (don't we all), but mostly textiles, photographs, and dollhouse miniatures.

I remember when you started this place...

Something going on in my personal life made me take a forum break at the exact same time (couldn't have been too serious as I don't remember what it was), but you were my hero. I'm glad to have finally gotten here.

Thank you, Any Jewelry. I have read many of your posts here and I strongly suspect you were on the ebay forum under another name. I don't recall what that name, but I'm pretty sure you were one of the people that amazed me with their knowledge.

And if you aren't that person in my past, I know the same is true of the person I'm meeting now.

 

FIGTREE3!!!! I was so excited to see you in the photo forum. A photo is what sent me searching for this place (it's not that exciting a photo, I'm just have a genealogy problem).

I had an excellent photo happening in the time I've been away. Ten or so years ago I picked up some early 19th century orphan photos (with names on them) that I could not find family members for - so I posted them on deadfred.com. Was contacted by a librarian about them -- she and a research partner are making a coffee table book about the photographer (a woman in a small Kentucky town) and I was able to pass on the photos. I love finding loving homes for such pieces and next to family, what could be better than the local library?!

 

Me, too. And I remember you and your avatar as being one of the kindest peoples on the forum.

And other things. But that's the one that I remember made me think, "I will never know that much about any one subject, ever."

Cool story! I never posted anything on deadfred. Will think about that because I have a bunch of identified photos that need homes. Sometimes I try to find relatives but don't always get very far.

 

Several of us here do have that same sort of problem!
