Hello, Jonathan. My first thought was Galileo, but could not find a bust of him that had quite this shirt. I see him on cameos copied from this:

    Welcome, Jonathan.

Those high, arched eyebrows are very distinctive. I've seen him before, but where....

I'm getting giddy looking back & forth. Could it be this one?

Someone of that time period, anyway. Michelangelo has a similar look, but more & wilder hair.

Maybe Jonathan can show us a side view, so we can see the nose en profil.
I edited the photo a bit, maybe that helps as well. The nose looks thin and slightly arched.

Some other views would definitely help. For comparison, here is Mike:

Just looked it up. Lawrence died at 44. This looks like an older man. It was those sunken cheeks that made me think of him.

It's the shirt that makes me think Renaissance. But the left eye on each of them is sure a lot alike.

Don Quixote I would think. (Here he is as illustrated by Gustave Doré.) And the 1,600 in pesetas would have been just about right for a small souvenir bust.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Just a black & white perspective on the subject............

I think it's Michelangelo after the bust by Daniele da Volterra.

Titian looks like he might have the right nose; wrong hairline:

On sartorial grounds, do think we are looking at a notable figure of the Italian Renaissance. Price may be denominated in lire. Without OP answering our questions, doubt we will be able to answer his.

I meant, Michelangelo's nose always looks like he has been in an accident. The nose on Jonathan's item is aquiline.

Michelangelo's nose was broken in a dispute with another sculptor, Pietro Torrigiano.

But my point is that an artist always brings something of themselves to a portrait, it can be apparent in an original (compare Gertrude Stein, Picasso's portrait of Gertrude Stein, and Picasso) and the further you get from the original, all those little changes add up.

(In the 1934 movie, The Scarlett Pimpernel, there's a scene where Lady Blakeney is having her portrait painted by Ramsay. Sir Percy Blakeney comes in and criticizes the portrait-in-progress. If I could do video clips, I'd clip it and post it. It pretty much sums up one aspect of portraiture even if, in the script, it's meant more as a comment on Percy.)

For me it looks rather like a souvenir. Maybe an older one. The small size of this bust and also the comparatively simple quality also speak in favor of being a souvenir. I don't know of course what material it is made, but at a first glance it looks like pressed stone dust (I do not know the proper name for it) - in Europe you can find such busts in many museum shops. Like this one, just not as well made...
