Hi all I bought this beautiful three tier box today and hopefully ID the artist?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

That looks stunning!!!!! And either very new or very well cared for....except for the broken lower draw! Is it easily repairable??

The drawer slides out very easily. I think it got dropped. I almost dropped it a few times carrying it around the store.

Mikey, I wish I could read what it says on the top of your lovely Russian box!

For what it's worth, this is a site I've used before to get a bit of info about these items:

So the initials must be the artist?

I learned about these boxes here after buying a handful at a sale. Lots of Russian fables and fairy tales are depicted on them. There is a pretty good market for them. Particularly the older egg tempera painted ones. Palekh is where these were and still are made mostly but also has become the general term for the art form it seems.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The word at the left is not Nanex. It is the word "Palekh" in Cyrillic letters. I am using my phone right now and don't have easy access to type those letters. Generally on Russian lacquerware boxes, the city of origin is on the left ; the title of the picture is in the middle, often in quotation marks; and the name of the person who painted it is on the right. Sometimes the name is just initials. The painters are often company employees, not identifiable. I see this is all identified already. The BA on the right would probably be the Cyrillic letters for VA. I say "probably" only because I have not enlarged the letters on my phone screen to verify what thay are. (I have looked just now and verified the initials are V. A.)

    Lovely box!

The site might be acting up again...I didn't see the notification that you tagged me. It's not in my list. On the other hand, everybody else took care of helping.

Another person trying to interpret the Cyrillic alphabet as the Roman/Latin alphabet. That one is also from Palekh and the initials in this case are M.L.
