Estate sale find. Put this on ebay today and recieved two messages asking if it was Yue ware *shrugs*. Googling the phrase and still a bit lost. I see it was made centuries ago, but is it still made today? Is this Yue ware. Good feel and quality, in hand. Appreciate your knowledge, thanks.

PS, Up’ed my price drastically until I learn a bit more, just in case, ;)

...and no @komokwa, relating title of thread, and where you often go, I am not currently dating this vessel, I’m a married man for God sakes.....:woot::hilarious::hilarious:

I don't think it is Yue ware from the pics. Is it really that apple green colour? Also some closer up pics of the foot rim (side on as well as head on) might help.

Thanks, will add images soon. In looking into it, I am seeing them listed from Edo to Qing. Feeling like people just say anything they want sometimes:mad:.

Edo ones would be from Japan, during the Edo period some Japanese pottery was significantly influenced by Korea and China and can look very similar.

Can’t help but what a beautiful piece of pottery!!!! I’d have snatched that up if it was priced in within my budget for sure.

Thanks for the extra pics. There does look to be some hand trimming, but it's pretty basic. The clay isn't refined either, quite gritty from the looks. There is an iron line where the glaze ends. I think it is most likely 19th century, perhaps earlier in the 19th c, I think it's worth showing it to a decent auction house who has an Asian specialist just to confirm though. You don't want to under-sell it.

Thank you AJ, thank you Ce, I appreciate all the info. I actually receives two kendi vessels in the sale, but my first impressions of the other one didn't hold high expectations. Going to take a few simple photos and will post here. please let me know if my gut was right, I keep trying to get better at this.
