No idea what this is, hoping someone here does.

The yellow section fits completely in the black section. The bottom 2/3rds of the black section is solid.

Could this be some kind of vintage ...pill crusher? This was the same sale that had the nurse's watches.

Does the rod by which the chain is attached - go straight through?

I got nothing either way, but if so, would possibly rule out pill crusher..

I don't think it was meant to come apart.

I keep thinking this must be a mystic's necklace. Sort of like a pendulum.
However, it probably isn't anything more than an Art Deco Bakelite necklace.

It's cool. I like it. Are you going to list it?

You know, you might be on to something. Perhaps was not meant to come apart!

    Yes, will be listing.

I asked my 92-year old mother if she knew what it was and she said -- well, I won't repeat what she said it looked like -- but, no, she didn't know what it was.

I’m seeing the ball and triangle as for dowsing. So I learned that term. I thought dowsing was something else. :bucktooth:

Ok, based on Ineedhelp's dowsing suggestion, what about this guess: it could be a midwife's tool for determining pregnancy and / or sex of unborn child. I've seen it in movies and read about it in books, but never seen one... Have not googled it either. WAG

I was only looking into was cluttercloset said. LoL, I thought dowsing was looking for water, but apparently other meanings too.

I cannot find anything about midwives by google, but a search brought up witches.

It's probably not called a dowsing rod for pregnancy though

I'm surprised the rod doesn't go all the way through, because the way the chain is threaded, it looks like that would be the method of length adjustment.

Plus, one charm resembles a plumb bob, another divining tool..

I found this, I do remember that about babies, but apparently there are a lot of applications.

They usually used a ring on a hair. A wedding ring if the mother-to-be was married.

OH YES!! YOU'RE RIGHT!! I have seen that ring-hair combo in at least one movie!! AnyJewelry!! Thanks!!

But this is not to say the plumb bob does not have anything to do with dousing/divining/conjuring/construction/midwifery... the list is long!
