Felt stuffed toy

Hi All
I’m not sure if this item comes under this forum since it was once a toy. I’m not sure if it supposed to be a primitive handmade jiminy cricket from Pinocchio . The tag says made in Japan. It’s a special little guy that has been in our family ever since I can remember. I’m very curious about it if anyone has ideas about it

Doesn't much look like Jiminy Cricket. What is he holding? A pipe? And would you post an in focus close-up photograph of the tag please? (Tags are helpful for dating.)

Made in Japan tag would rule out being 'primitive handmade'.

Doesn't look like Jiminy Cricket to me.

Just a felt toy, post Japan being occupied after WWII.
