Featured Age of porcelain portrait painted brooches

    Hello

    I have two brooches with portraits painted on porcelain. I assume they're Victorian era?

    Both measure approx 5cm x 4cm

    The frames are certainly late nineteenth. Have you checked with a loupe that they're not printed? The oval one looks as though it might be.

    Not an expert but the first one looks like the outline was transfer printed and then colored in. The second one looks painted by an average painter.:bag:

    Agreed, transfer and over paint, second is a hobbyist.
