Cleaning a china cabinet

I have a china cabinet that is dusty and has not been cleaned in about 20 years.
I wanted to know what to use to clean it with. I have murphy's oil soap would that
be good to put on it. I hate to say what I am about to say because the skepticism
will come out but this may or may not be a Stickley Brothers china cabinet. We
have been researching off and on trying to determine if it is or not. My grandma told
my mom to buy this because my grandma thought it was Gustav Stickley from a local furniture deal. She paid $80 for it. The front glass was falling out and my mom took it to a furniture repair place and had it repaired so the glass would stay in. Not sure how much that cost her for the repair. I do not think the glass knob on the front is original either. I think someone replaced it in its life. My mom sent a letter to Gustav Stickley furniture I think in the 1990s and got a response from someone who is really high up in the company now as I recall from researching. I hope someone can help me with what to use to clean this possible Stickley china cabinet. Thank you. Robert Knarr

At the time I was typing this out, I was thinking I will get some info on cleaning the china cabinet up and then send pictures. Ok, I will try to take pictures of the dusty china cabinet and get them out later this evening. I have to go take care of my mom at my sister's house and I am not allowed to use the internet because it is so slow and my sister is working from home on the internet and messes her up. I am surprised you would not want measurements, too. Take care. Rob

Ok, here are some pictures. Now you can tell me why this is not Stickley Brothers or Gustav Stickley China Cabinet. If you can identify this china cabinet, please let me know. The third picture shown raw wood, I found it on the carpet I think it came unglued from the bottom of the cabinet. The last picture shows where I think a paper label may have gone on the back at one time. The wood ends at the top and bottom is why my mom and grandma think this is Stickley. I will get dimensions up soon. Thank you for taking the time to look at these pictures and identifying this china cabinet maker for me. Regards, Rob

I tried to add pictures by editing my inital post but got an error message 600 seconds time limit. So, I had to do a separate post reply for the pictures.

I know there's a limit on text edit time, but have not heard a specific number. Good to know. 600 seconds is 10 minutes.

I might be wrong on the units, it might be 600 minutes

That would be 10 hours. Did you really take that long?

Below the title says I started this discussion at 9:56 am and I went over to my sister's take care of my mom. So, anything past 10 hours would have started at 7:56 pm. So, I see it as plausible that I took at least 10 hours before I edited the initial post. Rob

Dimensions are about 35 1/4" length from the end of the corner board to the other side end of the corner board x 14 9/16" width from end of the corner board to the other side end of the corner board x 54 7/8" tall from the ground to the end of the corner board or 54" height from the ground up to the top edge. Hope these measurements help. Thank you. Rob

    Hi,
Does not remind me of Stickly but more like Phail. The brasses do not like right to me.

I use Amish Wood Milk on all my furniture, especially the old pieces. If you have any finish left on your cabinet, and it looks like there is, it should clean up nicely. There are also industrial/commercial strength "cleaners" but I find they take more of the finish off. What is that that has dripped on the top of the cabinet? If it is old varnish in a bad refinishing attempt, the cleaner won't help with that. You will need to take the old finish off. Whatever it is, it should be really cute when it's finished.

Agree not Stickley but a nice piece. The cross-stretcher at the bottom and the recessed top are distinctive features that might help you place this. It does not ring any bells with me.
