Can't say for sure without seeing/testing, but it certainly looks right. A simple test you can do - get a sharp kitchen knife and try and scratch the surface (in an insignificant / hidden place just in case). The knife shouldn't be able to scratch the stone if it's jade - not infallible but a good indicator.

It sure looks "right" from here. I've found a few stone bowls over the years, all soapstone alas. Gave one away to a Chinese friend; it was a scholar's object and he's a scholar so.... :) This is a much better piece.

AJ I noticed that you had disappeared again. I am deeply appreciative that you took the time to look at my bowl.:kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss:
Perfect I really, really hoped it was true, and now I feel secure. It has joined my other jade objects.:):)
Thanks for the tip that they aren't signed. I thought it meant a production piece since it didn't have a signature. I will have to reevaluate my thoughts on this misconception. Not that I expect to be able to afford another one.

Please take care, and we'll see you when you are better. :)

I've seen them in shops - way, way beyond my price range. I'm getting a lot of yesses, so I'm feeling confident. Thank you.

Sounds like a plan. Riley, the little one, is the fiercest, fearless, wildest creature you ever want to meet. Honey Girl wouldn't stand a chance. ;)

Greg. From you that means a lot coming from you. I know you are a lifetime collector of fine things. I've see the rows of them in Chinese shops. Each more exquisite than the next. This one is very thin. I am amazed he was willing to part with it.

Ce. I appreciate the advice, but I was terrified to remove the sticker much less get a knife near it. :) Thank you. Kiko

I haven't seen them in soapstone. I'll have to look those up to see what you mean. Thank you. I'm sure the scholar appreciated your gift. No matter what the material, they are a joy to admire.

It went into a glass case immediately. My cats are fairly dainty but I wasn't going to take any chances. :)
