Featured Sterling silver dish by Mappin& Webb.

    Nice, and yes a bonbon dish or sweetmeat if you want to sound fancy.

    There is no stamp of "London" on this piece. Sheffield and the Sheffield crown assay mark do appear.

    I saw on some St. silver made by Mappin& Webb,was stamped of "London" Thank you, Bakersgma.

    Mappin & Webb are one of the few remaining famous silversmiths of the 19th century. They still have a store in London today - 132 Regent Street.

    Yes,not so many ''alive'' on this business.I have only one made by Mappin& Webb.

    I remember going to buy a silver salt spoon from them back in the late 60s. It cost a whole fifty pence - ten shillings - and they treated me like utter royalty.

    As my Pa always said, good salespeople never know who you might be or what you might come back and buy in the future.
