I recently bought a B.W & Co Late Mayers "Flower Vase" plate at a thrift store. The date on the emblem reads 1790, and the numbers 11-81 is imprinted on the back underneath. I was wondering if anybody could help me identify the year it was made and how much it's worth as I would greatly appreciate it,
    Thanks again

This is not a site for valuations but we will try to point you in the right direction to discover a fair market value.
A shot of the underside would be welcomed as it can help to ID the plate.

the red mark of 1989 could be the painter...but the 1790 in the makers mark is not the date of the plate.....but rather the company founding date..

Transfer printed by Bates Walker & Co. Staffordshire potteries. There’s info about them online, sorry I can’t link. Late Meyers is a subsequent owner.

Flower Vase is likely the pattern name.

Welcome, Brian! Pretty pattern, Too bad about the underglaze discoloration on the front. That will affect value quite negatively I think.

You may be able to clean the discoloration by letting it soak for a couple of days in peroxide or oxi-clean. DO NOT use bleach. After the soak, you need to soak it again in water to remove the peroxide.

    Hi,
I would NOT soak it in peroxide. The red may turn a very faded pink or even disappear. I have soaked a lot of things in the peroxide over the years but have several reddish pink items really fade, No other colors just the reds. I started out just using the white earthenware pieces and never had a problem but several pieces with the reddish pink have faded, perhaps the peroxide was too strong. I always used the strong peroxide from the beauty supply stores for bleaching hair. never tried using the mild hydrogen peroxide from the drug store.

I stopped using the stronger beauty supply stuff along time ago. Regular peroxide or oxi-clean works just as well, it just takes a little longer and it is much less expensive. I dilute the oxi-clean with water but not the store bought peroxide. I've never had anything fade and I have done some red pieces so it could be that the extra strength beauty supply stuff is too strong.

    I agree with Mill Cove.
Regular peroxide. Pour into the plate and leave sit for a few days.
