I think this is bisque. Marked 2139 and maybe a word below. I thought it might be hand painted. But there are dots as you will see in photo. Also a strange paint loss I circled. It has remnants of gold on handles and top. I was wondering about age and country. Thank you for looking! 038863F6-4A0A-47B3-B6F6-C15E8CF45640.jpeg 0580334D-0ABD-4193-9D63-47B5EC0472EA.jpeg D9A770A1-141C-4BE6-819C-5D0AB1CD5E0B.jpeg 41CC51CC-A0EB-4B49-A430-40C83BD3D21A.jpeg 1BA038E5-E61A-476E-8009-F0092217EA14.jpeg 696C3813-45EE-4875-AB80-9AC38A4EA936.jpeg

Austria or Germany most likely, circa 1900. Most of the pieces in that style and color palette were popular around that time. The decoration was applied using a decal and the missing spot is where the decal did not apply correctly. At one point the top and handles were completely gilded but it has worn away with time.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I would call that more "stippling" than dots...........a brush technique....BUT would totally defer to @dgbjwc's comment!!!!:smug::smug:

EDIT: And either that's a GIANT pen or a very tiny jug!!!:hilarious::hilarious:

Thank you Don, I didn’t see that messed up spot until I got home. These decals hardly show a line. I still don’t see it. But I’m sure you are right. Thank you for estimated date and origin. I still like it, warts and all.

I’m sure stippling is a better expression for it.
Not a giant pen... you’re funny!! :hilarious:;)

You're welcome, I need help, but it's quite possible that Aquitaine is correct. Some items were a combination of a decal and handwork details but it's that missing area that led me to believe the whole decoration was decaled. I may not even be using the right term - it could be transfer rather than decal. These vases are not that difficult to find and the color palette is out of fashion right now. If you like this style now is the time to collect it. If you're buying for resale only I would avoid.

Thanks Again, I just will make some space (it doesn’t take up much room) I will research further, but just for my own interest.
