This necklace caught my eye right off. Quite heavy! It's marked Monet.
Is this designer as desirable as Sherman?
Regardless of value, it's such a beautiful design :)

One of the more attractive Monets I have seen. Monet used to be so common on the department store counters it is hard to say that it is now valuable. They are two very different designers. My preference would be for a sparkly Sherman; but the Monet is lovely.

Thank you :) I think the Sherman ones are my favourites of everything so far as well. *makes notes* Monet is the Eatons/Bay/Towers Stores of jewelry lol
Is that the same with the Continental crystal earrings I have?

@MMarkussen - How big is this necklace? How far down does it hang when you have it on?

There is a style of necklaces that are referred to as "bib necklaces" but I don't know if this would qualify or not.

Normally Monet is not a very desirable line but some of the older stuff can be quite collectible. If you do a search for "monet bib necklace" you will see what I mean.

Let's see if we can get some input from some of the jewelry gurus.

Is there a Cleopatra style Monet necklace. That's what it looks like to me.

Mostly, Monet isn't that expensive, despite the fact that it's really well made. I suspect some of the designs are perhaps too staid and main stream.

That isn't, it's fab. 1980s into early 90s from the style. They did some really good gold tone collars, wearable and comfortable.

This is a bib style necklace. It sits beautifully and I suspect will be really nice if shined up.

One other thing you might want to invest in is some "Sunshine cloths". They are available on eBay in everything from a single sheet to bags of 25+. They are not only great for shining up sterling silver jewelry but a light buff of the base metal with gold or silver overlay jewelry also. This piece would be the type of piece that would be helped with some buffing with one of the cloths.

Most jewelry just needs a light buffing & you don't have to worry about getting the rhinestones wet (do be mindful of the prongs) or having to clean silver polishes out of the crevices.

Oh, seconded, those things are wonderful. I had 9 carat gold where the alloy had tarnished, brought it up very finely.
