Featured Vase bought at yard sale

Hello I bought this vase at a yard sale a few years back. It has feint colours like an oil spill and is 9cm high and 13cm across. It would be lovely if someone could tell me the maker and what this finish is called and maybe how old it is. Not sure if there was a pontil mark, if there was it has been ground smooth.

I know there are several cat lovers on this site, so you might like to meet Max my Avatar. Max was found on the pavement early one morning and the finder thought he was a dead rat. Once he warmed up Max showed signs of life, he was so tiny we guess about three weeks old.

At the same time my daughter was home recovering from a serious operation, unbeknown to the finder of Max my daughter had teased me by saying she wanted kittens and puppies to aid her recovery. So when I received a phone call asking if I could look after a wee kitten my answer was of course YES PLEASE.

Max is now four months old and much loved by me and my other stray cat Henry. My daughter who has now recovered is flying home to see Max this month.

Looks like an iridescent lamp shade for a chandelier type fixture.

Welcome Coral, and welcome to your cute little tabbyrat! I'm owned by a "medium hair" gray tabby myself, named Genie the Houdinicat. She's also a rescue.

Coral, Max is lovely! There are a few of us here who have solid gray cats, too. Grays always seem to be so sweet!

    Hello and welcome
Max looks like a cutie with a lot of spunk.

My first thoughts on your vase was Consolidated - made me think of Catalonian. But I can't find anything similar, and they don't seem to have a ground and polished base.

I do think it is worth the time to find the maker.

A warm welcome, Coral, to you & Max. We have many rescue kitties among us. (One is signaling his intention - was signaling, now completed - of getting into my lap, despite the heat.) When we don't know what to say about an item, we can always talk pets. I don't know anything about your piece other than it looks very pretty &, with that plain flat bottom, agree it's a vase, although can see the resemblance to a lampshade.

I had glass like that years ago and found out it was made in Mexico. Not a lamp shade.

The finish is called iridescent. I would have guessed Phoenix consolidated glass as the maker too. But that was just a guess

Just had to butt in here and say hi, from a fellow cat lover. This is Cake, (named by my daughter, lol) He has passed now but his spirit is forever with us. I used to have a cat rescue and now have about 10 rescue cats with us now. Welcome to the group:)

Max looks more like Minimum at the moment, but that'll change. I had a Max years ago, a runt of a Maine Coon.
