See writing in last photo. I do not know if this would go under art or metal, because although metal it is totally art to me. I cannot even remember where or when I bought it, sorry. Been in storage. Is a large metal pitcher. It looks antique and I'm pretty sure hand made and hand signed. It looks like the copper may have been added to the raised places because it doesn't look copper around the rim where there isn't copper. It is not attracted to a magnet. The walls are thinnish and overall it is heavish only due to size, but not like bronze or even a lot of brass pieces. It measures a little over 14 inches tall and between 7 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest spot. 04FBC8B5-CC6D-4B11-A0DD-366087FB59E7.jpeg 04FBC8B5-CC6D-4B11-A0DD-366087FB59E7.jpeg 21A57079-3E05-4E1A-9B5F-88375DD7A4E1.jpeg 26A4AA62-2F98-4568-B7EC-D454039D59FF_1_201_a.jpeg

It probably is sheet copper, it could be some solder around the rim. It looks to be from Kashmir, the Islamic part of India (later partitioned into India and Pakistan). Arabic is commonly spoken in this region and they are noted for this type of hammered copper vessel. Nice looking piece and a good size too.

I love it. Just stuck some large silk tulips in it and it looks great. Do you think it deserves further checking? Someone else said Ottoman. Neither of which do I know how to search from here. I thought maybe the handle fasteners would tell something. I have no clue what. Thank you.

It reminds me of things I have seen in Israel in the shuk. But I don’t read Arabic so I can’t confirm or deny that theory :)

    It’s lovely whatever it is.

I know this is an older listing and I really appreciate the information before, was wondering if do you have any idea of age on this piece. I'm keeping it and sticking labels on all my things for my children. Thank you.

Hello, I don't know about age, but the text looks like a name - Ghulam Haji [al-Zaman] (last name not 100% clear in the photo, something like that). With the name Ghulam, I'm agreeing with the earlier comment that it's Indian/Pakistani area.. and I'll add that it's a common thing to have your name etched in tableware like this there, even on modern metal pots/plates (not saying this is modern, just that it's a cultural norm to etch names)
