Is this sculpture what I think it is?

This was my mom's and a favorite of hers. I'm trying to understand what it is, but it's an area I don't know much about. She got it in the late 1960's or early 1970's in the USA. She always just called it "Turkey Girl". I haven't found something similar to its design. I can find no markings of any kind, including underneath, although the middle lighter grey marble base is firmly attached to the sculpture. I'm pretty confident it's carved, not cast.

In looking at other things in this forum, my guess is that it's Italian alabaster sculpture from some workshop that knocked these sort of things out in quantity, and not of great monetary value. Am I correct? Anything else useful to know about it? Fortunately, it does have much sentimental value, and I find it pleasing look at.

If you can't scratch it with your fingernail you might have a carrara marble? Alabasters, especially delicate ones like this often have a few bashes, chips and scratches etc here and there and I don't see any evidence of that on yours.

If I work at it with the corner of my fingernail (on edge), I can scratch a little bit of white dust off. So, I can scratch it, but it isn't super easy. I wish I knew more about these materials. I really don't know what it is.
