I don't really think it matters all that much, i'd guess it just has to be smooth.

Hi SG and others, Are the feet at the back of the cabinet original? They look quite awkward in Pic 4 but it could just be the angle and I can't enlarge to see clearly.

Could very well be original. Have seen some discongruous back feet like this on similar furniture from the period.

He wouldnt take my offer and stuck at $400.

Now Im torn between putting the money from selling the little small clutter build up (antique door knobs, back plates, photos, etc) towards the bookcase or keep stashing towards the buffet I want but still havent found but could walk into my life at any time..

    What would yall do?

I think the measurements said this one was only 6' tall, which seemed short?

What part of the country are you located?
I think Cluttered & Brad are pretty close to correct on value,1 in west, 1 in mid west, particularly with the writing surface needing restoration. That isn't a big deal but still..........
On the other hand, it's only $100.

    Im in the southeast.
My biggest reserve is I change furniture and decor like I change clothes, Id want a quick and easy sale if I wanted something new and get my money back out, if not make a little profit on it.

But hmm, I don't see this style bookcase often.

But I will have to spend time and money on finishing it..

Maybe I'll poke around some antique stores on the south side of me to see what they have available

If you are buying it because you are in love with it and don't mind putting another $100 or more into it to finish the writing area. (Will depend on whether you can do the work or have to pay someone to do it.) Then buy it.

However, if you are in the habit of keeping things for only a few years and expect to sell this at a profit - Well the way furniture has down turned, I don't think that is going to happen in the near future. Especially if you put more money in to complete the restoration.

You should consider MCM furniture......which should in a few years still be an easy sell.

It would look good i think but i prefer the green color contrast against the wood.

Yes, you could be right, but the video made it look relatively easy to do as a home job in either fabric, leather or baize and quite economical.
