    Hello,

Due to recent unfortunate circumstances, my significant other and I have found ourselves in possession of some antique furniture. The furniture currently resides in a house that was a railroad stop/hotel a longggg time ago and it is believed to be the original furniture. I have no idea what I have my hands on and I'm turning to you for more information on the possible significance or value of these items. I have no room in my house for them and I cannot appreciate them the way that they deserve to be appreciated.

Thanks for any input in advance!!

First piece and the bed are renaissance revival circa 1870. Don't believe the mirror is original to the sideboard. Too small and later in period. The dresser is also a bit later, 1880-90. The armoire is circa 1930. Pedestal table is old but pretty non-descript style-wise. The other table is odd and I am not sure the legs go with the top. Would like to see more/better pics.

Such lovely stuff and so well cared for,but not hugely popular right now.Depending on your area,it all could be a hard sell. Wich is a shame, its nice indeed.

The table with the fiddlehead legs is odd. Any indication there was ever a shelf? How are the legs attached? A pic of the underside might help.

Forgot about the long table pictured in front of the window. Something odd about this one as well. The top look like it is from a circa 1930 console or sofa table. The legs seem, somehow, older. A look at the underside of this one might help as well.

I have named each of the items for ease of reference. The description of each photo contains the name of the item.

Can confirm that the top is not original to the buffet. Believe the end table is as made and circa 1900. Sofa table also appears as made since I can not find any evidence that the top was ever attached to anything else. Going to go with a 20s-30s date on this. Pedestal tilt-top appears to be home made and done sometime in the 20th century. Dresser is a transitional style from renaissance revival to Eastlake. Think you could just call it the latter without too many quibbles.

Do you have a ballpark estimate on what the value may be? I live in PA just north of Pittsburgh. I don't want to sell an item for $100 if its worth $1000.

Your insight is greatly appreciated!! I know nothing of antiques.

Brad,I get a french country feel off that long sofa(?) table ? I think the tilt top one might be a little older than that,it looks like its been heavily altered. All just conjecture ,of course.

In my humble opinion, since nothing is "special" in that sense of the word, and not knowing the market in your area, but if you got an offer of ,oh,$2-3000 for all of it Id call it a lucky day. You can always post it on Craigslist, local pick up only, and see if you get any nibbles.

Went with 20th century on the tilt-top since the top appears to be made from more than one board. Suppose it could be late 19th century. Taking a second look at the underside of the sofa table, I see a rounded corner "ghost" that may indicate this was once attached to something else. I am still having trouble reconciling those legs with this multi-board top.

Value really depends on location and selling venue. Your market in close proximity to Pittsburgh might be a bit better than mine 2 hours South of Chicago. I would expect to see the buffet at $400-600.00 here in my market at retail. The bed would probably be in the $300-400.00 range. Side table, sofa table, and tilt-top would all be under $100.00 each. Wardrobe would be around $150.00. Dresser would be around $300-400.00. Quite a bit less at auction or other wholesale venues.

remember...you can always ask for a bit more ...and come down in price....

but you can't ask for less......and then go up in price !!!
