I'm not really sure what kind of marks they are, whether they are silver, silverplate, silver over copper, or something else. I'd so appreciate any help or comments. I believe the decoration is Art Nouveau, based on Mucha's work. Thank you. mark.jpg mark2.jpg

Not ringing any solid silver bells and given what looks like a lot of copper showing, I would venture silver plated at best.

A better close up of those marks might help.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Would need a sharper image of those marks if you want to be able to read them better......it kind of looks like 1C.3.II??l crowned figure facing left, M....but really not clear enough......

Thanks Aquitaine. Does this help at all? hallmark.jpg
It does look like ICG, but the marks that follow it don't make much sense. It does not look like a typical silverplate mark and the piece is much lighter than you would expect with silverplate. I guess it is, since the other example is, but the weight of it is pretty light all things considered.

Is it okay if I bump this? I posted closer up photos of the marks. It's so light...I'm afraid to sell this as silverplate if it is real silver.

JMHO. post-WW2 German massproduced deep-drawn silver-plate sheet metal. WMF made similar as well. very typical wear and then the copper of the alloy shows up. if it was massive silver it would be thicker.

That is always ok, even if you don't post extra photos.:)
I'm with Bakers and alors. It is a bit like WMF, but their designs were usually more free flowing.

The marks are Swedish, stamped by Carl Gustav Hallberg in Stockholm, M for Metal, meaning Electro Plate. The figure in between is S:t Erik, the town symbol of Stockholm. The bowl may very well be imported to Sweden.

Welcome to the forum @The swede .
Thank you for the explanation. I would never have recognize the St Erik crown, I thought I was looking at two protrusions on the head.:)

What a great "first" contribution, the swede! This one was beyond obscure to me. Knew it wasn't solid silver, but was clueless about how and where to find it. :woot:
