Any ideas who might have made this horse? I doubt it's more than 50 years old. Probably younger.
It's in the UK but I've asked around here and no-one recognises it or the marks.
It's black and green semi-matt glaze over porcelain.
The foot mark is not good but the belly stamp is quite clear.

The belly stamp numbers look Austrian/German.

It looks like a copy of a Breyer colt.
I would think this dates to the 1960s give or take a few years.

Thanks CC. I think you might be right about Germany - the foot print looks a bit like GER - but I'm not so sure about Breyer. Theirs seem to be more realist both in shape and colouring whereas mine is more stylised and definitely not horse-coloured.

It looks Austrian / German to me too. I don't think it's any relation to Breyer except that they both do small horse ornamentals. The brown coloration on the glaze looks rudimentarily sprayed. I think your horse could be from the 1920s, but this is just my opinion. It's a darling piece.

I was just pointing out that it looks very similar in stance to the Breyer colt.
No it has absolutely no relation. Sorry if I made it confusing.

Thanks antidiem. I don't normally like this sort of thing but there was something about this one that ticked my box.

I would dearly love to find out what that foot mark means.

I think so too in which case it’s 1949-1990.

I've had a good hunt for GDR marks but not found anything that looks like mine.
