PIN GF a.jpg PIN GF b.jpg PIN GF c.jpg PIN GF d 12K.jpg PIN GF e.jpg Finally have a find to post! About an inch and a half in diameter. Seeking info on maker's mark (leaves?), estimated era, etc. I think it says 12K GF (do you agree?) and weighs a hefty 13.69 grams. How does one estimate the worth of a gold filled item? The pin clasp broke off--is the pin mechanism itself normally gold filled also? So you see, lots of questions as usual! Thanks in advance.

@Happy! Can you try to get a photo of the mark under a loupe?

Google "gold filled calculator" - just put in the weight and the karat, and it will give you what's its worth by today's gold prices.

I believe some of the gold filled calculators you might have to actually look up today's gold price and enter it. Not sure though, it's been a while since I used one.

Edit: Another thing I just thought of, you usually have to put in whether it's 1/10 gold filled or 1/20 gold filled. If it's not marked, I don't think you can know which one to choose...but if you try both options, at least it will give you an idea.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Was able to sharpen this one a bit.....there also appears to be writing on the end of the pin, but it doesn’t appear stamped well enough.... EDBD4C71-A206-41CF-A628-ABF1D866D5E6.jpeg

It looks 1950s to me. Nice design. Maybe you could make it into a pendant?
As Tie said, if you don't know the percentage/layer of GF, you don't know the scrap value. Overhere scrappers wouldn't accept it anyway, because it isn't gold.
    I think you're right.:)

    "Era
    c.1922, c.1934 c.1950"

If indeed Binder Bros., that site had 3 time estimates, does the clasp give any clue to narrow that down?

Oops forgot the additional pics. So for U.S. scrappers, would they take this, U.S. members?

The style of the brooch is 1950s, imo.
Wait a minute, is it just the roll-over bit that came loose? If so, you can put it back in the clasp, pinch the two outer parts together with pliers, and you've got a working clasp again.:)
It is bound to be worth more as a brooch than as scrap.

So what about a jeweler, would they bother buying something like this?
