Wooden water bucket-Chinese?

    Hi all. Bought what I assume is an old water bucket, maybe the sort used in a well?

    Sent a photo to a friend who immediately said Oriental, while I assumed it is from the UK/European. Can you help me out? I have tried to show details of the metal hardware. Also not sure of the type of wood used.

    9.5" height and diameter

    Interesting.
    Looks like it should have a mate and be balanced on a pole across the top the shoulders.

    You mean a pair of buckets and a yoke? Possibly...but surely they'd have something so that you could grab the buckets as well to stop them swinging around on the yoke like a pair of conkers?

    That's a nice bucket...... However, it's hard to tell where it was made.:angelic:

    Looks like a classic British well bucket to me. Iron coopered. Bit of age, late 19th/early 20yht perhaps.

    I don't see much point in having the handle recessed like that unless it's intended for stacking.
