Featured 1902 Hood sign and photo

I thought there was something familiar about the name HP Hood! Based in Lynnfield, MA, the next town over from one of my former residences!

What exactly are you offering for sale - the entire lot including the photograph? The signs individually? What are the signs made of? Wood? How big? How do you know they are from 1902?

 

I grew up seeing the big HP Hood sign next to the highway. I think the sign must be very collectible. You can contact a local/Massachusetts auction house to see what they think it could sell for.

 

I found this very sweet toy HP Hood truck, horse and driver online. Sold at auction in 2018. Estimated price was 800-1,000.

And then there’s the bottle.

 

Another kid here who grew up on Hood milk. Like bakersgma asked, what size are these signs, and are they printed on both sides or only one? Kind of hard to believe these would all be from old horse drawn wagons.

 

Those are awesome. I know this isn’t the sell forum but if you do put up for auction can you tag me? Probably out of my price range but I’m interested.

 

There's a pretty dilapidated milk bottle like that still standing along RTE 146, I think in N. Smithfield, RI!!! We've been driving by it for years heading to Block Island..... can't say as I ever remember it being open from approximately 1967 onward......! Also can't believe it's still standing!!!

 

The horse and milk wagon image is on Pinterest, as well as the little Pook & Pook image, can't find any quarter boards anywhere, but did find a dead link to an ebay source......that's all I found............VERY possible the OP has the quarter boards, but we haven't heard anything back from him either!!!

Those are really cool! Antique Advertising has been on a tear in recent years and I wouldn't be surprised if the signs in better condition with bright colors realize in the $100-200 each range at least. Anyways you never know what is going to happen until the gavel hammers down on auction day.

 

I grew up in Derry, NH and we passed Hood Farm on our way to school. I know he moved to Massachusetts at some point, but Hood Farm was operating until at least the late 60s. The house is now a Chinese restaurant and the cow pasture is all built up with condos.
