Help! I can't find this anywhere. I don't know if it's an actual (rare) coin or a coin that someone manipulated into a little medal. Two things that stand out: 1. there's no numeration on the coin, so you can't even tell what it's worth, and 2. the relief on the bust is a lot compared to the rest of the coin - almost as if someone soldered the little bust onto the front of a coin.

The coin itself looks just like the other pfenigs I have, including the size, except for the above anomalies.

Is this a coin, a one-off homemade little medal, or a circulated medal? Thanks!

That is great. It can be such a hassle, especially all the administrative stuff.
I'm sure you love it though.;)

Pretty quiet here, doing my best to stay out of harm's (covid) way. And buying some nice jewellery while I'm at it.:playful: The Etsy shop has been closed for years, I hope some day it will open again.

I haven't looked at the page, but thank you! I can't believe you found that - I spent at least an hour googling different search terms and didn't come across anything!

I'll pull some of it through google translate to see if it comes up with anything intelligible.

Too bad no one responded to their post. It reads:

I picked up some interesting information about a so-called zeppelin penny.
Does anyone know more about it?
Is there any information about the amount of pieces manufactured and sold and who made and soldered the zeppelin head?

Since the head part was soldered onto the coin, it should only be a medal.

Enclosed a picture of the coin / medal and further information (unfortunately I do not have the literature, but would like to know what is in it).

    Thanks for your information.

BBM - aren't we all? LOL. Yes, I love having him back here!

I've posted a few jewelry lots on ebay, and it sure seems to me that the prices have gone up this past year. Maybe because more people at home with not much to do? IDK.

I had to answer the door, the delivery guy brought my groceries.:)

In the blurry bit it says the medal is described in several books, and lists the books.
They are about coins and medals, aviation, and the 1908 Zeppelin accident at Echterdingen. He says it is a medal to honour count von Zeppelin.

My guess is that it must have been issued before the Echterdingen accident, since it wasn't a happy occasion to commemorate.:(.
    More on the accident:

The reply is the part that’s blurry, if you tap it, it’s readable.
