Any help on title, year of publication, or value (if any) would be appreciated. It appears to be a book highlighting Christian art. I'm also curious if the name signed is anyone noteworthy.

Simply type the text as a google search.
Use the text in the black box on its cover.

Do the same for Johanna M. Schmidt and see if you get lucky.

    James.

First published 1991. "Twelve Nights" -- a series of "meditations" on the meaning of Christmas. Book club edition. Available online or from (Christian) bookshops.

The author (1922-1916) was a German theologian, minister and author who was active in the peace and ecology movements.

    So not old or valuable.

agree, no value. good for fleamarkets in Swabia. Zink himself was a well-known bigot in the southern German Pietist tradition. sometimes called Birkenstock fraction.

May be as old as 1965, yet still not worth anything. Lots of copies from German dealers on Abebooks, many asking under $10, not looking like it's a mover. With European books, you might sometimes find the date in the back few pages. Not always, though.

You're right on both counts. My initial reply above was written too quickly and in fact judging by the cover the OP's example is more likely to be from 1965 than 1991.

Unfortunately these book club editions often didn't have a date or any details about the edition. Sometimes there's an address for the publisher, which can help as these change over time (for example when postal codes are altered, streets are renamed or businesses relocate).
