Two 19th Century Colourful Plates

    another pair of plates I have one more set after these to show xD

    Thought the purple looked a little different I don’t look at much porcelain plates so maybe this isn’t as striking as I originally thought.

    I forgot to take a pic of bothe of them but I think they are fairly identical in composition
    Hopefully you can all shed a little light on these. :happy::happy::happy:

    Again, I think these are mid to late 1800s English porcelain.

    Asian influence. Used to be call Japonica if related to Japan, Orientalia if related to Chinese. Not sure if those terms are still used.

    Late 1700s Asian porcelains were imported.
    Early to mid 1800s Staffordshire potters were trying to recreate the porcelains and were influenced by the Asian designs.

    Thanks. I didn’t initially see the Asian influence somehow xD it has a bamboo border for crying out loud haha

    Here, Chinoiserie or Japonaiserie. I think these are a bit later, with all that gilding, late 19th.

    Yeh those are the English terms if the two mentioned earlier are American
