Featured Another Shoe Box Ring

Hi everyone This is another one of my Gran's rings. I'm hoping someone may be able to help me with the stamp please. It is stamped 18CT and PLAT. I'm not sure what PLAT is. Platinum?
What sort of age do you think it has.

by the look of it , I'd venture 50's...maybe 60's......
but to me...( not a joolie in the strict sense..) ... the design is kinda classic , but over the years they dropped the center stone down somewhat....

& that's just late night , off the cuff talking !!

& again....cuz I'm chatty......that's only cuz my wife is a sapphire gal...so I've had to look at lots of rings of this ilk.....

but years ago I'd bought her another...like yours...but larger and flatter....
Had I seen yours ........before we got married .....I'd have bought it off you.........or...at least tried to !!!

I always liked the star sapphire.........but I'm a Brown Tigers Eye guy...from way back...........
I know...it's a lesser stone.........but it moves me !

A well cut Tourmaline.....or Black Opal........or Black Pearl........nuthin to sneeze at either...........

 

I think there is some of that in one of the shoe boxes. I'll check it out.

It's not going to be much post WW2, with that mark. Although you do get Brit stuff just after without full hallmarks it's unusual. That 18ct/PLAT thing is typically 20s, 30s, late 40s, early 50s. From the style I'd think early 50s.

 

Thank you OBB. I was thinking 40's or 50's so you have confirmed I was in the ballpark.
