As a child I remember looking into the top and the green of the glass was so beautiful. Any ways....I have taken a few pictures to try and figure out the makers mark? And also I am horrible at fancy lettering and was hoping someone could help identify the initials on the top. From one huge fan of antiques, I appreciate any help Any information. Thanks! 767C58D0-6AF9-4433-9604-FFC82AA1FBA0.jpeg

Nice piece, looks quality. I'm not doubting it is silver, but the hallmark (three leftmost marks) looks iffy - it doesn't look like a true British assay mark, the form of the anchor is all wrong to start. I'm wondering if these marks aren't a hallmark at all, but some form of makers id disguised to look like a hallmark - rather like a lot of 19th century silver plate marks do.

Hi - welcome to the forums. As Bakersgma has already said, it is by Gorham, and as also suggested, please post images of all marks. Would also be helpful is given further information, like what you believe it is - it looks like an inkwell, but a bit difficult to be sure from your images - and sizes are always useful...

    Lettering could be:
I or J in the middle
    F or T on left
    R on right
Looks like a little ampersand in between the I/J and F/T

    Similar font:

Left to right on the monogram it looks like T J L. Just MHO>

Actually dumb engraved initials that no one can read seem so pointless. OTOH, when buying sterling flatware, not being able to read the monogram helps a little.

Your item is Gorgeous!! Love it, and I can see why you're obsessed with it.

Welcome to the forum Ctmedd, that is a beautiful piece:) It might just be crappy photos on the Liveauctioneers listings, but the cutting on your piece looks much nicer - can you take the glass part out and post photos of just the glass and include one of the base:)

And I see it as TJR. But I'm usually rubbish at deciphering monograms.
