This is big: about 36" tall.

Question is: what do I call this shaggy fabric? Just... shag?

It's hairier than what I would think of as plush, BWDIK. It's more like faux fur (which had not occurred to me), except for the colors. Maybe the colors don't matter?

How about shaggy plush & faux fur? :D

Yes, plush with faux fur or just plush is fine too. When describing mention if his beard is plush and if his face is rubber or plastic:)

I'd just say "plush". These 1950's plush dolls are pretty uniform material-wise (except for the face and beard) and so people will know what to expect. I don't think you need a lot of keywords to describe the material itself. But very important as mentioned to say if face is rubber or plastic. Also, is this Santa "pink" or is it just the photo?

I'd put the size in the subject line because it is bigger than most. It has a cool look.

People seem to buy this kind of thing year round. Maybe a hard sell Jan-March, but even by the end of the summer things will be picking up for Christmas 2018.

Thanks for all the input. I like "shaggy plush". That will probably do the trick. His beard is the same shaggy material (or so it seems to me).

How do you mean "pink"? How do I tell if the face is plastic, or rubber? Would plastic be rigid? It's relatively soft and flexible; perhaps a bit too flexible. It's a little bizarre and I think it may have collapsed a bit on itself. (One of the toy's more endearing traits.)

Looks like rubber, soft and flexible sounds like rubber too. Maybe made by Reliable toys in Canada. His size is great for displays. I'll have a look through a couple of books later today and see if I can find him.

The white trim and beard are shaggier than the red, more faux-fur like. The beard is bib-like. Here's a close-up of its backside:

The maker is "Best Made Toys Ltd." of Toronto (label in English and French).

I tried looking them up a few years ago, but it's not a name that lends itself to a Google search.

    All this help is appreciated.

The initial photos just looked more pink than red on my laptop screen. This latest one with the label shows the red color perfectly. If selling, might seem redundant, would not hurt to mention "red" somewhere as some 1950's Santas are pink.

Yeah, for some reason my camera had trouble with the color. His outfit is definitely bright red. Caught it better with a flash, but flash photography, to me, always looks harsh.

I've never heard of Best Made before, looks like they are still around, listed as manufacturing and wholesalers.

In your last photo his suit does look red:)

crunching is good, helps to confirm the date, late 1950s-early 1960s.
