We bought this piece last year and just recently got it together and in my daughters house. I bought it for my wife and my new house, but it is too tall, so my daughter has it for now. I have no idea what it is, how old it might be or what it may be worth in value. I have this one photo, but can get more easily as I am at her house this week. Disregard the lamps she has on it. It is 9' 4" tall overall and extremely heavy at a guestimated 400 pounds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t know if the furniture knowledgeable people are on now. It usually helps them if you send pictures showing the drawer construction and such. Doesn’t look like you can access the back.

Thanks i need help, there are only the two drawers in the bottom section. The bottom is just a single shelf, and the top is a mirror inside and black velvet lining the interior of that compartment. It is very unique. My son-in-law says he thinks in is French Rennassance. Here is a photo without the lamps. He is rubbing it down with some old english and it is very thirsty. It doesn't appear to have ever had anything put on it. 20846.jpeg

Anything to show construction joining or hardware would probably be helpful. :)

Here are some additional photos of the drawers and other components. Mostly everything appears to be glued. Very little if anything showing hardware attachments. One of the way the doors are hung.

    Welcome to the forum AGGG.
It is a beautiful cabinet, very good craftsmanship. The style is Belgian, made of oak, which usually points to the town/region of Mechelen, not far from Antwerp. The style is very much Mechelen.
It is a Revival style which started in the 19th century, but is still being made. I think yours is early to mid 20th century, but there are others who know more about dating furniture.
Unfortunately this furniture has little value today. Here in the Netherlands some people even advertise it as a giveaway.

The label is for a storage hold provided by Walon Frères S.A., a Belgian firm. They were founded in 1865 and still exist, now under the name of the fourth generation of the Walon family, Gilbert Walon, with headquarters in Braine-L'Alleud/Eigenbrakel near Brussels. They move and store furniture.

I don't know when the name changed, it would help in dating the period of the storage, but this is Gilbert now, with a portrait of an earlier generation behind him:

Thank you SBSVC!!! And Thank you, Any Jewelry for all of that fantastic information. Being made in Belgium and shipping all that way definitely makes since and gives it some history! Again thank you so much. :)

Also, I told my daughter that this is like a piano, if you ever sell it the buyer arranges the removal and moving of it! It is one heavy piece and it took three of us just to lift the top into place, and having about three more people would have been nice!

    Pleasure, of course.
Completely forgot about the hutch with the mirror inside, it is a drinks cabinet. The mirror reflects carafes and glasses nicely. That makes the date closer to mid 20th century, imo.

If I were to put lamps in this cabinet, I would go for elegant bronze lamp bases with small glass shades. Or a pair of bronze statues. Both options are more in keeping with the Belgian tradition. But that is just me.
