Trevor, I still can't access the photo. In this thread is an explanation on posting pictures:

Some people on smartphones email the picture to themselves and then upload it to their thread.

 

I keep getting the error notice, "you have no permission etc".

It's German, written in a style called Fraktur. I can almost read it; those double F shapes are actually double Ss. Did you find it in Pennsylvania?

I think I recognize a Nordic language or dialect. Swedish? @judy , @Fredrik Lislebø , could you please help?

 

Hi everyone! Just back from my 2 week trip to Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland. Fabulous trip with my family.

Unfortunately I cannot translate. The style and decoration look very Scandinavian to me, but unlike the Norwegian Rosemaling.

Perhaps this box is from Denmark?

I think Fredrik would have a better idea.

thank you for the answers I did make this account for my dad this is a photo of my dad and he is good with antiques, longer than I have been born and I am 24 he has been dealing, my name is Dominic Wake my dad is Trevor. he does have good taste from what I see him bringing home and knows what he is looking at it is his passion. this forum looks healthy I hope @Fredrik Lislebø can help and I hope I can teach my dad how to use this.

 

First couple lines:
Før stod jeg ud i skoven saa grøn, hvor fuglen sang med stemme skjøn.

Takes me forever to figure this much out, I'll try the rest later, have to go out for a bit, maybe someone else can figure the rest with what I've posted. (not sure about the saa after skoven)
