Unknown Haviland Limoges Plate

Hello. I picked up this plate at a thrift store near me. It had sat in the store for a couple of weeks then one day I decided to buy it.

I sent the photos to Haviland Collectors International Foundation and Dale could not identify it.

I would like to know a value of this piece and where I could sell it other than the usual eBay, Facebook etc.

You have a very nice Haviland Limoges cabinet plate with a pierced or reticulated rim. It most likely the only piece produced in this decoration and so would not have a pattern name or number. There is no special place to sell Haviland specifically that I am aware of beyond the usual. There is a Haviland Limoges facebook page but I don't know if they allow sales.

I checked eBay for comparables and see you already have it listed for $24.88. That seems like a very attractive price to me. You might want to add a shipping charge just so you don't get burned too badly. Folks that collect Haviland don't mind paying shipping if it ensures safe delivery. You could try for more but the market for Haviland is tough right now.

Thanks Don. It is a nice piece in my opinion. The one listed on Ebay is not mine! I might buy that one myself.

 

I'm often astonished by the things one can find in a thrift shop. On the shelf for "a couple of weeks!"

As already mentioned, the price is reasonable BUT the market for Haviland is very depressed at the moment. Not much, if any, room for profit if you buy for resale.
