Old women...specially with scowls ....look like old men !!

I think she's standing..( no waist ruffles..) with her arm resting on a ledge , forcing open the book jacket.
You can see the wooden ledge peek out , under her hand.

I thought it was a man too. Some artistic guys used to dress in elaborate costumes back when. The face doesn't look feminine and the short hair is more dude than lady.

I just noticed that there is not one piece of jewelery being worn -- no pin, no brooch, no ring, no necklace. no earrings. Hmmmmm???????

Seems I remember an old movie or something, where a priest of some sort dressed like this--even with the bow under the chin. Or maybe a leader in a fraternal order, like Masons or something...Just ideas.

Hi everyone! long time no post.LOL Actually I haven't had much more than a minute to peek in lately! and it seems forever since I have had any good finds,... but I do today!! I went out to one of my local thrift stores to deliver a couple things to a friend that works there , I took my 9yo with me and when we get there he jumps out of the car and runs in... by the time I get inside he is coming up to me holding a banjo and says you gonna buy this? lol, so I look briefly at it, it isn't marked, it had just come in and I told him to ask how much...I hear the cashier say "Oh, one dollar" HOLY SHIPS!!!! I say "SOLD" from across the store LOL LOL LOL!!! I also got a nice Ikebana basket for a dollar :)

1908-9 A.C. Fairbanks Whyte Laydie #2 5 String Open Back Banjo. Cost to replace tailpiece, bridge strings approx $50 :)

    Women can go bald too.

They are usually a bit self conscious about it as it is uncommon and considered unsightly.(Mainly by women as far as I can tell) Older women who are only ever seen in hats are likely to be notably thin on top.

    Hi,
As to the lady being a cross dressing male. The few that I know would not be caught dead WITHOUT a lot of jewelry.:D:D:D. She is in morning and not wearing any jewels.

Stern old lady in mourning dress. But maybe it was too early in the morning for her. ;)

    1) She is old.
    2) Women didn't wear makeup back then.
    3) She may well be missing some teeth.
    4) etc.
    :)

Not a great find, but it was floating around in a bag of icky watches, and I decided to look it up on eBay one more time.
Turns out that even in this condition (Broken band - no idea if it works), they do some times sell.
