Can anyone help narrow this down, please? It's not a treasure but we're selling it and it would be nice to describe it more precisely than "glass swan"... It's just under 8 cm long and has been around since the 1970s, at least.

I've seen similar items on offer, often accompanied by a list of possibilities because the seller doesn't have more of a clue than I do ("Lauscha / Bimini / Pirelli / Murano ???") and would like to do better. I haven't found any that look just like ours.

    Thanks for looking!

For me or you on our own, even with decent search skills, yes.

But the wonderful thing about this place is that sometimes you get a reply from someone who has years' or decades' worth of knowledge in one of the areas we're new to.

I've a friend who is absolutely expert on glass animals. The little lampwork ones are tricky to ascribe. That one is well done.

I didn't know that and I'm sorry if I've caused offence. It remains the case that someone could have more specific knowledge and expertise than "all types of glass".

Thanks. We thought so too. We've got several glass figures that I won't be posting here, but this one stood out as nicely done. Add the fact that my wife recalls it being around for several decades and it seemed worth asking about,

The Bimini ones are fairly distinctive, and rather lovely.

Which glass maker did you work for? I used to be involved with some of the fair organisers and the Glass Association.

I looked through the glass animals book and didn't see this one. It is a nice looking piece:)
Have comments been removed from this thread? Several comments are quoting another comment, but it looks like the original has been removed? Or maybe a glitch and not all comments are loading?

It appears that a member has been deleted for some reason, but I don't know why.

The member requested to be removed from the forum, along with all his comments. The second request turned out to be impractical, so most remain.

I know he mentioned that he was leaving. Too bad when that happens.

When I search for "glass animals book" I see two 'hot' candidates, Schiffer and Spencer. Do you mean one of those, or some other reference work?
