Nice detail, if you look at the lower left hand corner you see a lady shopkeeper showing a mask fan to a customer.

 

Neat! Obvious this whole mask thing was a very BIG DEAL socially once upon a time. I knew about the mask ball thingy but never understood it's importance socially in that era till now.

 

I didn't mean tricky in a negative sense, i meant that around the house MOM RULES! At least at my house and most of the households i interact with, that's just the way it is.

 

Maybe you should emigrate to the Netherlands.
In our marriage we have an equal partnership, decisions are discussed and made jointly. That is the way in most relationships I know. But I know it can be different, sometimes a nasty power struggle, and sometimes the balance tips too much one way or the other.

 

Well, it's equal here to pretty much but, around the house i guess mostly because of children, mom is large & in charge! Course, my kids are grown now with families of their own but looking back there was little doubt about who managed the household. VERY TRICKY!

 

Some people wore masks when out in public (especially in Venice). It wasn't confined to balls and celebrations.
