900.jpeg I intend to acquire this chest from a family member's estate, but need an estimate of value. The pic is all I have at the moment and I have not seen the piece. Any information or estimates would be very helpful. I may be able to get more pics if necessary.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I only lightened it up a bit to maybe get a better look at it!! AND it looks to be in nice condition......might have been refinished??? Usually we don't do outright Valuations, but rather point you in a direction where you can make your own decision on that....tagging a couple for you..... @Ghopper1924, @Fid, @verybrad.... good luck!!

Thanks for the lightening. Yes, it does appear to have been refinished.

It is very lovely and nice that it retains the original mirror's wood 'bracket'.

One thing I would point out is the lower two handles don't match the rest.

Circa 1900 highboy chest with serpentine front top drawer. Refinished oak veneers and solids. Value is very dependent on where you are. Here in my semi-rural Midwest location, under $250.00 at retail. 1/3 to 1/2 that at auction or other wholesale buying venues. Might do better (or worse) in your location.

Chest is now in Alabama. Orig purchase was either probably south Indiana or western Virginia.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The pulls on the top drawer are also different than the ones on the three middle drawers, and also different from the bottom one you mentioned.

    Hi,
The holes in the top drawer are original. If different like the others there would be two holes instead of one. The top drawer looks like a replacement, the graining is different and the shape is different. You can find replacement pulls for the bottom drawer on line.

I believe that the top 2 are original as that drawer has no lock and it appears to be 'wavy'. The only ones I think are replacements are the bottom 2. I could be wrong though.
