I am attempting to learn more about cloisonné made in china pieces. I come across them from time to time I would like some information about age, purpose and if any value about these two pieces. Since they are in my hands , the information will sink in better than what i have read using pictures for reference. The one is much older than the other i believe. I know there is damage on the older one but still is an interesting example. . the cylindrical one is copper and brass the other is just over brass. c1 s.JPG c3 s.JPG c4s.JPG c5 s.JPG c6 s.JPG c7 s.JPG

Post war Chinese cloisonne was mostly made for export/tourist ware so there isn't generally a purpose to it other than being decorative and functional from their form. You are correct the one which says 'China' is older, probably 1930-60's, you sometimes find them with 'China' misspelled as the workers couldn't read or write English and copied from a picture. The other is recent, indeed you can still buy this type of item today on the online Chinese trade sites, they also sell this kind of item around the Forbidden Palace as tourist ware - often found on ebay listed as antique of course.

Thank you for your info. That is very helpful The older one looks like it was used and abused a lot .
