how much does these notches detract from value? 1857 Large cent

    this is a 1857 large cent. are the notches considered damage,or are they there for a reason? also what does not one cent on back mean?as always thank you all so much for looking, and commenting. also is the other one a Barber dime, seems a little large, and is badly worn largecent.jpg largecentb.jpg barberuse.jpg largecent.jpg

    Looks like someone filed them for an unknown reason,maybe for mounting into some type of jewelry.

    Sorry. My apologies. I know nothing of Ireland except from the air, it looked like a wonderful green quilt I wanted to land on, but couldn't.
    As for the coins, any damage, unless they were made at minting and are errors take away from the value of a coin, I think. Those don't look like mint errors. There's always coin forums to get the scoop.

    Oh, and just look on the reverse (back) of your Barber coin to see the denomination.
