This is an interesting one. I don't think it's by a skilled artist, but I'd like your opinion. There is no signature, I've had it out of the frame.

The writing on the back is interesting, does it give any clues?

Clues? Beside the Made in Finland! Well, Suoma means Finnish, doesn't it? And Imma is a woman's first name?

It's not not well liked. And certainly mid-century I've you've identified. But may well be decorative given the "Made in Finland" stamp.

I don’t think “yikes”. I think it’s an attractive modernist piece. Great palette.

Probably not LOL. I don’t think you would have liked the artists I represented although you may have bought from my family. I’ve been retired for a long time.

...and presumably the reason I wouldn't like them is because they tipped the scales heavily toward the yikes factor?

    And when we presume...

I didn’t like your response and felt it was condescending. The painting isn’t a work I would own but I can see someone enjoying it as a decorative vintage modernist piece.

When I was a dealer I showed young emerging artists although my family dealt post WWll modern masters on the secondary market.

Oh well, sometimes truth can be hard to take. Apologies for being too blunt.

Thanks for the comments, I didn't think this piece would generate so much passion, but that's art for you ;)

I like this piece, except I find the abundance of blue, yellow and green a little too cool in tone. It's the second example of pointillism I have in my collection. I'll post the other one shortly.

Yes Debora, "Made in Finland" is a big clue! I thought that maybe the board was made in Finland, not the artwork. And Suomi does mean Finland in Finnnish I think.

IMMA could be a woman's name - it could stand for Irish Museum of Modern Art too :woot:

Absolutely NOT “the truth”. YOUR subjective opinion only. The only objective opinion is that the painting is not fine art quality or salable through a fine art auction house and has decorative value only.
