Who's the impressionist?

    Hamburger Absolute Beginner

    This was inherited a few years ago and we don't know much about it. Acquired before 1990. Approximate size (visible canvas) 48 x 60 cm. These are the only two photos I've got right now as the painting is currently boxed, but I'm fairly sure there was nothing interesting on the back or I would have taken photos. I'd appreciate any input.

    Hi there. If you had a picture of the back you could probably tell the age of the painting if you can see the colour of the canvas, if there are nails vs stables in construction etc :pompous:

    Fair point, Elen Beattie, and maybe I shouldn't have posted without being able to include that photo. I'll come back and find this thread if ever we free up enough space to unpack another painting!

    With the pickled frame and exuberant floral still life in a Dufy-esque palette, looks 1950s.
