This thing is 2 1/4" long, 1 1/4" across. The monogram involves the letters V, R, and D (in some unknown order). Any idea what this is about? No maker's mark.

Doesn't have to be years of service; could be anniversary, birthday, number of flavors?

    I’ll stop now, :)
I think it’s Daughters of Rebekah.

Those says marked 10k. This one is not marked. I have no means of testing.

I guess Perseverance Reb. could be Rebekah.

So Oddfellows - Daughters of Rebekah.

That might account for the D and R in the monogram.

    Could this be a knock-off? A fake?
Those others don't show the rivet construction this has, and the star bit, which is apparently a raised and separate piece on this, looks to be part of the background on those. Also, the monogram on those is not pierced.

I'm unconvinced that this is gold of any karat.

Sorry I was unclear. I was just trying to establish the symbolism. The examples I found happened to be 10 k. I agree I don’t think yours is.

Some Rebekahs pins were gold and some were gold-filled. I think this is the latter. They were a big organization for a while and made a bunch a different price points.

Maybe just a junior form of the award - order 2nd class as it were. Maybe you had to get to the big numbers before you got the gold.

The initials stand for Veteran of the Rebekah Degree.

    Also from that site:
    "Rebekah Veteran's Jewel
B5 -- This is a Veteran's Jewel for a continuous membership in the Rebekah Degree. A sister with 25 or more years of continuous membership is entitled to this jewel, with the number in the center set to the number of years of membership in the Order. The available numbers are 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 or 75."

But nothing about the medal composition.

Possibly older pins were made of 10K or 14K but as the years went on & gold became more expensive the pins were changed to gold plated to save the organization money.

MOS, I had a bunch of Odd Fellow ribbons, pins, etc. that I listed on eBay. To my surprise, they sold well and to the midwest USA. They were older than yours but I think the organization was big in the midwest.

The Oddfellows was/were, for certain. They don't have the magic ritual overtones that the Masons do/did and were known for doing good things, often anonymously.
