identifying fur

any help with an id would be appreciated - the material is hairy, coarse & lays flat. it sheds slightly? short hairs

looks like leopard .....what's on the reverse....can u see the leather......

 

Its lined, cannot see the reverse. Is it genuine leopard or possibly stencil calf hair?

 

it's not in my hand , so I can't be 100% certain......
but a stencil would repeat itself.......i don't see that.

Whichever one it is, if it's real -and it looks like it is-, I don't believe you can legally sell it. (If that was your intention.)

 

It is a collar on a sweater

 

It does look pieced together which would lead one to believe it's genuine leopard, but scraps.

Ocelot pattern is more streched out and linear ....

 

Leopard. I have a jacket that was my mother's which has a leopard collar. She had it made in the late 40s. It does feel slightly coarse, with a soft undercoat. You can't sell it.

 

Agree leopard scrap and unsalable. Some natural history museums will accept leopard as a donation for educational purposes.
